DECEMBER 2024 UPDATE!
We are getting so close!!!
Had to take a break for the fall for our School Program Season, but now will continue giving each chapter a final read through and getting any new photos laid out.
Thanks for your patience and we are realistically looking at getting it to the printer in early Spring 2025.
NOVEMBER 2023 UPDATE!
We gave the Buckskin Revision a ton of attention this past year and it is really getting close to being complete!
All of the changes feel really important and we are looking forward to sharing the final product with everyone else, hopefully in Spring or Summer of 2024.
JANUARY 2023 UPDATE!
After a really busy fall season in which I was unable to move the Buckskin Book Project forward, I have kept my 2023 work schedule through late March open in order to dedicate all available time to the project.
The bad news is that I am currently struggling with a partially torn achilles tendon and deciding between surgery or therapy.
The good news is that either scenario will require 6-12 months of healing which will help me focus on finishing the project.
Thanks to all of your for your exceptional patience and hopefully the next update will be news of major steps forward!
Thanks to everyone for your support and patience.
We are doing our best to get if finished!

OTHER RECOMMENDED BRAINTANNING RESOURCES
Dry-Scrape Braintan
A Working Manual, 2nd Edition
by Jim Riggs
The classic text on dry-scrape braintanning.
Concise and witty.
Every braintanner should own this book.
Jim dedicated his life to learning and teaching ancestral skills and inspired countless others to explore how to tan skins, flintknap stone tools, make arrows, twist fibers into string and rub sticks together to make friction fire. We initially learned how to tan from one of his students and a large number of our colleagues can also trace at least one of their lineages of knowledge back to this iconic man.
He was a good friend and mentor who also wrote the foreword to our book Buckskin: The Ancient Art of Braintanning.
