an Online Earth Day Celebration

The original plan was to make a presentation and host a Paleotechnics Soapstone Beadmaking hands-on “kids of all ages” activity booth at the Earth Day Fair in Ukiah, CA; but due to Covid-19 restrictions, it was moved online and was also my first experience of teaching via Zoom.

Deep connection can be found through interacting with our environment using technologies developed over millennia by our hunter gatherer ancestors.

Processing wild foods and making tools, fire and string are skills which are still relevant today.

Exploring them is fun, can bring meaningful satisfaction, inspire creativity and help foster a sense of place in the natural world.


North Coast Opportunities, Inc. (NCO) is a Community Action Agency that serves Lake and Mendocino Counties, as well as parts of Humboldt, Sonoma, Del Norte, Napa and Solano Counties.
